I've had one or two in the past. Figured they could eat all the gnats around the fig cups. All they did was die on me.
want list: Campaniere , Dels Ermitans, Little Miss Figgy, LSU Red Fig extraordinary, Raspberry Tart, Ham Rham, U. Prosciutto, Labritja, Louisiana Lightning, Buzzone Nero, . Vigorous and thornless Blackberry and Raspberry plants, La swamp fig, sour orange seeds (to be used as rootstock)

I have being thinking of getting some so I can keep them in the green house and or house so they can eat any insects that get close but I have not seen any seeds nor plants in any of the stores.  I use to see Venus flytraps in Walmart but have not in a while

I have had almost all varieties of carnivorous plants including very expensive Australian Cephalotus follicularis. Well easiest to care for carnivorous plant will still be my very first purple pitcher plant. Others can't really catch any insects. If you want a plant that has huge pitcher and doesn't go dormant, you can try Miranda pitcher plant. I planted my purple pitcher outdoor in the garden and they thrive, make sure to water them when it gets hot and dry outside. It tolerate tap water and soil, unlike other carnivorous plants, the water harness has to be below 50ppm.

well he’s in-ground purple pitcher plant, hasn’t rained several weeks looks dehydrated. And it tolerates water over 50ppm and soil, quite hardy.

For your information wife wanted christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby so I wondered around. They had little starter kits for venus fly traps, pitcher plants and the little sticky plants who's name I cannot remember.

Steve,  I had an idea, we eat a lot of fresh throughout the year and regardless of how careful we are we always end up with a few going bad.  This results in tiny fruit flies in the kitchen which is irritating.

If we had one a few of these little pitcher plants on the patio and brought it inside from time to time do you think the fruit flies would be attracted to it?

Mothergoose, a Mexican Pinguicula (Butterwort) may be the best type of plant for your purpose.  I think of them as the African Violet of the carnivorous plant world.  Many of the species/hybrids grow easily in a sunny window sill and are good at capturing small fruit flies and gnats.

Thank you, I'll tag that for some research.  I've never heard or seen that one around here.
