Sangue Dolce Fig
« on: December 01, 2019, 09:28:14 PM »
The name means sweetblood in Italian.

This variety was introduced by the owner and founder of Ourfigs it was supposed to be from Dom from New York I do believe. We were told that this is one of Dom's favorite varieties.

We were told elaborately that this variety tasted better than a natural Peach and this was very impressive to me. And the more hype that was spread the bigger the claim of its legendary flavor.

There was so much hype that this variety was bringing and around $800 for a few cuttings on eBay. Well after the smoke cleared off and the hype died down the real findings and facts about this variety or now coming to the surface.

According to everybody that I've heard from this is a very very very hard variety to even get to root and has to be grafted so I wouldn't be wasting my money on cuttings.

You can find a lot of these results on figaholics in which Harvey C States it's very hard to root and it has a berry flavor to it. What no Peach flavor doesn't taste anything close to Peach.

Fig nut you can find results on Figbid makes a claim that it tastes something like blueberries and I've seen some other claims stating that it tastes something like blueberry but I think they're just copycats.

So it doesn't taste better then a natural Peach in fact it doesn't even taste close to peach or even a peach at all according to everybody else. And this is all done and promoted by a reputable source.

So don't believe everything you read or hear and be on the lookout for some of THE new ones like watermelon or other exotic flavors. Remember if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck it might be a duck.
