One cutting of LSU Red for $120 on eBay.

Today is March 19th 2020 and I saw on eBay LSU Red one cutting for $120. I was shocked to see the price. God bless JD for giving LSU Red tree for free on this forum. This is a must have fig for me but I can’t pay $120 for one cutting. There is no guarantee that it will root. Thank you JD for what you do on this forum.

Some collectors will do just about anything to satisfy a craving. Hopefully someone will have some LSU red cuttings for you down the road, AtlantaFig. Thanks for showing us this.

Even if one were to have the foolhardiness to pay such an obscene sum for a cutting, how could one know that in fact that the cutting was properly labeled? I.e., that the cutting labeled LSU Red , was in deed an "LSU Red"  ? I would suppose that anyone who would have the temerity to extort such a sum, would also not have any scruples about  selling any poor sucker who bought it  a mislabeled cutting.

Wish list would include any of the LSU varieties at this point.  I have Celeste, Giant Celeste,  Golden Celeste, and a  whoknowswhatitis "brown turkey" type.  And LSU Gold. Have tried many of the Calif. types...all split and sour frightfully.

I really feel sorry for this individual, he is probably a victim of the Fig Mafia a few years ago that's what they were going for on places like eBay. He's probably trying to recoup part of his money or just extorting this.

This is a strain that everybody has I call it the East Coast version because the reputable sources getting large sums of money for it. Maybe I'll run an ad for 2 cuttings @ 117.50 but this would probably upset him. Or I can have both strains but I really don't want this getting out.
