Louisiana Green Honey
« on: July 07, 2018, 08:41:35 AM »
Louisiana Green Honey is a fig that I found about 4 years ago.  A very fine sweet Honey Fig that sometimes has a unique flavor of a sweet cantaloupe. This is one that we will be giving away here on Southern figs !!!

After seeing JD's pictures, I needed another fix for my fig addiction and wound up buying some from JD on another fig bidding site.   I can't wait to receive my cuttings and seeing if I can a few to take.   If more than one make it, I too, will be offering one or more of this variety later this summer.
Wish List: Black Tuscan, Black Zadar, Bordissot Negra Rimada, Buzzone Nero, Cessac, Col de Dam Gegantina, Cravens Craving, Figoin

Opiem10,

Between you and the phantom/legion figger, this place will never be the same.  I am not even mentioning everything that Steve and JD had started and is still going.  Thank you sir.  I will say it now and again later for being such a generous human being.

Does anyone have an update on the Louisiana Green Honey fig his season? Iím in the Clearwater/Tampa area, and it sounds perfect for our summers here. Any indication of nematode resistance?

Thomas, I was lucky enough to receive (I can't remember if I bought or won cuttings) both the Louisiana Green Honey and Louisiana Green Honey #2 varieties from JD (LouisianaMoJo) a couple of years ago.   I will be attempting air layers on both varieties this spring.

As for nematode resistance, JD would have to provide his experience with these varieties as he has the most in ground experience with them.

In addition to the photos JD posted, I believe I also posted some pictures of my younger plants.   Keep exploring the site and adding to your wish list.

I just got one started from a cutting this spring.  It is growing like a weed in SW FL.  I have it in a pot until I can clone one for in-ground.  Here in SW FL, that's probably a good thing to do for anyone concerned about nematodes.
