I mentioned before how we had some ground cherries volunteer this yr. they are not the sweetest but they have a slight pineapple taste and are a little sweet. They are good to pick and eat fresh. I should have transplanted some to other parts of my yard but things happen.
They grow like tomatillos with the whole husk thing. They are small, as you can see from pic and being compared to nickel. Best time to pick is when husk is light orange and it falls of the plant, no pulling required.
