Me...2001-----Any interest in a Longue D'Aout?
« on: February 16, 2020, 08:26:22 PM »
Hi Marsha (Me...2001) ,
I saw in another post that you have had difficulty rooting Longue D'Aout cuttings.   I, on the other hand have been quite lucky with this variety and have had more success than with many other varieties.   I have a few more Longue D'Aout cuttings to try to root over the next month or so.   If I am successful and wind up with a few more than I could use, would you be interested when my young plants have roots which fill a 4 x 4 x 9 mini tree pot?

Here's the trade I would propose:

1)  You post any fig cuttings or small plant that you would be willing to give away to another member (not to me).

2)  Upon sending your giveaway item(s) to winning member(s), I will send you a Longue D'Aout which is well rooted and ready for a 2 gallon pot.   I would only ask for actual shipping up to $10.   If the shipping is over $10, I cover the balance.

Let me know if you are interested.   We can touch base again at the end of spring when my plants should have developed really nice root systems.  If you need to wait until the fall, that is OK too.   I can send you a bare root plant after mine go dormant.

This is another way of paying it forward and getting more members involved in our giveaways.

Very nice of you Opiem10.

I just picked up a LdA cutting that I hope to stick by tomorrow.  I tend to have no problem getting them to root, so it will be interesting to see what side of the spectrum my attempt falls into for the LdA.

It would be interesting to see if this starts a pay it forward chain reaction.

It would be interesting to see if this starts a pay it forward chain reaction.

Hi Ulises,
I have already spoken with JD and Steve and actually will be conducting some chain reaction giveaways later this summer, after I acquire some less common varieties and either get some cuttings to root or air layers to take.   My plan is to offer one or more of these less common varieties and entrants for my giveaways will have to pledge to start a giveaway of their own, again where their winners continue to offer something else to members, and so on and so on until the last person posting a giveaway has no one interested in participating.   I may even kick start these chain reactions with an I-258 if some of my current cuttings root and pot up without dying.   Can we get a reaction of 10 or more giveaways from one I start?   We'll see!!!!

I hope there will be interest in an I-258 if that is the first I offer.
