Sarracenia purpurea
« on: March 07, 2020, 08:02:30 PM »
I will be dividing a couple of large clumps of S.Purpurea in a couple of weeks.  Would be happy to trade for Drosera or Nepenthes.  Lemme know.
Wish list would include any of the LSU varieties at this point.  I have Celeste, Giant Celeste,  Golden Celeste, and a  whoknowswhatitis "brown turkey" type.  And LSU Gold. Have tried many of the Calif. types...all split and sour frightfully.

This is the most interesting and common pitcher plant of all the carnivorous plants i have kept. They have fairly large pitchers to catch bigger insects and very tolerant of soil condition and most hard hardy carnivorous plants of all. There are two strains: the northern one are mostly green pitchers and survive in harsh winters in Cananda. The southern strain turn red easily in the summer, i have them planted in garden for many years.
Theres video of them submerged in the forest for weeks/month without dying, So i was never afraid of overwatering it.

Sorry , I didn't see your post until just now.....It is a bit late to send one out this spring from here.  Remind me late winter next year.   Or this fall if you want some seeds..
